Is
reroofing messy?
It can be. However, to make reroofing as convenient as possible to
the customer our crews are instructed to clean up the jobsite everyday before
leaving.
Will
you park a dumpster in front of my house?
No. When the roof is removed, it is deposited in a truck and hauled
away the same day.
Will
the inside of my house get dirty?
Normally only the inside of the garage, the attic, and any areas of the
house that have open-beamed ceilings can get dirty. We will inspect
your premises and advise you accordingly before proceeding with the job.
Do
I have to be home during the process of the job?
No. We only need access to the outside of house and a dependable
power source.
How
long will it take to tear off my roof?
It depends on the size of the roof, and how many layers. Usually about
four hours.
Should
I cover the things stored in my garage?
It is almost always better than trying to clean it all up afterwards. We
can help you cover the easily accessible areas before proceeding with the
tear off. Some garages are so full of stored items that this is not practical.
Is
it better to tent my house before or after I do the roof?
Usually the best time to tent the house is before doing the roof.
This prevents the new roof from being damaged. Termite damage to sheeting
should be replaced by roofer after roof removal.
Should
I paint the house before or after doing the roof?
This really depends on a number of different factors. For example if painters
will need to walk on the new roof to paint a part of the house and the new
roof will not support the foot traffic, it would be better to paint first.
If the house is to be painted in the same time frame as the reroof, please
consult us.
I
have termite damage or wood rot in my sheeting, what will it cost to replace
it?
The damage cannot be accurately determined until the roof is removed. We
will make an allowance and put a fixed piece rate in the contract. We will
consult you if extensive damage is found.
Last
time I had a roof installed I found trash and debris that the roofer missed
for months afterwards, what can I expect from Coastal Pacific Roofing?
It is our goal to remove all debris from the yard, and areas surrounding
the house as part of the final inspection. We even drag a large magnet over
all surrounding areas to find hidden nails.
Will
my house support the weight of a heavier roof?
Most Building and Safety Departments have rules that require a Structural
Engineers report if the weight of the roofing product exceeds 6 lb./ft. not
including plywood or base sheets. Products are available such as, real Clay,
Concrete tile, and artificial shake that are below these limits.
If
a structural engineer's report is required, what will it cost?
It depends on the size of the house and scope of his work. The cost is
usually about $300.00.
I
have a low sloped rock roof, do I have to reroof with rock?
No. Other options are available for rock roofs including shingles, tile
and shake. The job specifications however will be different than a higher
sloped roofs.
